DESCRIPTION:Work­shop: The Evol­ving Dyna­mics of Polish-Ukrai­nian Relations \nWith Jakub Bod­ziony und Karo­lina Wigura\nDate: Wed­nes­day\, Novem­ber 26\, 2025\nTime: 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.\nPlace: Zentrum Libe­rale Moderne\, Reinhardt­straße 15 10117 Berlin\n\n \n\nThe work­shop explo­res the evol­ving dyna­mics of Polish-Ukrai­nian rela­ti­ons in the wake of Russia’s full-scale inva­sion of Ukraine in 2022. While Poland initi­ally emerged as one of Ukraine’s staun­chest allies\, offe­ring humani­tarian aid\, mili­tary support\, and poli­ti­cal backing\, the relati­onship has since become more complex. Histo­rical grie­van­ces\, dis­pu­tes over memory poli­tics\, and ten­si­ons around migra­tion and eco­no­mic compe­tition have resur­faced\, testing the resi­li­ence of regio­nal soli­da­rity. At the same time\, dome­stic poli­ti­cal shifts in Poland\, marked by the rise of the natio­nalist right and growing anti-migra­tion sen­ti­ment\, have res­haped public dis­course around Ukraine. The ongoing crisis of the gover­ning coali­tion further exposes divi­si­ons over Poland’s place in Europe and its stra­tegy toward Kyiv. Mean­while\, Ukraine’s incre­asingly direct enga­ge­ment with Western powers such as France\, Germany\, and the United States raises new ques­ti­ons about Poland’s role as a key inter­me­diary and advo­cate for its eastern neigh­bor. This work­shop invites parti­ci­pants to examine these inter­secting trends\, histo­rical\, poli­ti­cal\, and social\, and to discuss how they shape the future of Polish-Ukrai­nian coope­ration in a rapidly chan­ging Euro­pean order. \n  \nOur Spea­k­ers:\nJakub Bod­ziony – deputy editor-in-chief of ‚Kultura Libe­ralna‘. Bod­ziony is gra­duate of Inter­na­tional Rela­ti­ons at the Uni­ver­sity of Warsaw and the Warsaw School of Economics. \nKaro­lina Wigura – his­to­rian of ideas\, socio­logist\, and jour­na­list. Board of Kultura Libe­ralna Founda­tionand Senior Fellow of the Center for Liberal Moder­nity. Wigura is also lec­tu­rer at Warsaw University’s Insti­tute of Socio­logy and focuses on the poli­ti­cal philo­sophy of the 20th century and emo­ti­ons in poli­tics\, as well as socio­logy and ethics of memory\, parti­cu­larly transi­tional justice\, histo­rical guilt\, and reconciliation. \n  \nBest regards\,\nYour LibMod-Team \n
