Andrei Soldatow ist ein russischer investigativer Journalist und Geheimdienstexperte. Seine Website agentura.ru berichtet über aktuelle Entwicklungen in der russischen Geheimdienstszene. Gemeinsam mit Irina Borogan hat er mehrer Bücher über das Thema geschrieben, unter anderem "The New Nobility. The Restoration of Russia’s Security State and the Enduring Legacy of the KGB" (2010), "The Red Web: The Struggle Between Russia’s Digital Dictators and the New Online Revolutionaries"(2015) und "The Compatriots: The Brutal and Chaotic History of Russia's Exiles, Émigrés, and Agents Abroad" (2019), die alle beim US-Verlag PublicAffairs erschienen sind. Seit 2021 ist er Nonresident Senior Fellow beim Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA).
